Chelsea vs. West Ham United: Final score 2-0, Blues up to third

West Ham played fairly well but with Eden Hazard and Juan Mata impossible to pick up, they might feel relieved not to have lost by more.

Thanks to Tottenham's poor performance against Fulham, Chelsea have jumped up to third place with a win over West Ham.

Frank Lampard’s 200th goal for Chelsea and Eden Hazard’s second half strike see Chelsea down London rivals West Ham 2-0 and move into third spot at the expense of Tottenham Hotspur.

Chelsea never looked like doing anything but beating West Ham United comfortably on Sunday evening at Stamford Bridge. They actually failed to convert on more clear chances than they converted, as nice as their two goals were, and ran out extremely comfortable 2-0 winners.
Frank Lampard scored his 200th career goal in a Chelsea shirt to open the scoring in the 19th minute. After a shot by Eden Hazard was saved, Chelsea got the ball back and worked it back into the box. Hazard was the man who provided the setup for Lampard, who headed past Jussi Jaaskelainen.
Just five minutes into the second half, Hazard added a goal of his own to secure Chelsea's lead, combining with Juan Mata on the goal. Chelsea's leading assist-maker chipped a ball to Hazard, who cut inside from the right flank, beating multiple West Ham defenders before scoring with a composed finish from 15 yards out.
Chelsea finished the match with 10 shots on target and had a few near-misses as well, mostly from Demba Ba, who didn't have his finishing boots on despite a very active performance. On another day, Chelsea might have scored four or five goals. They're back in third place, thanks to an earlier loss by Tottenham.
